This month has been one of the most rewarding months for me at Mi-IT. I have had the pleasure of welcoming our community in as they arrive laden with boxes and bags of warmth.
Each parcel carries an extra something special with it: love by the bucketload!
Whether it’s a preloved blanket or a package loaded with brand new items, each donation has been given with genuine affection.
Overwhelmingly, though it’s been the sheer gratitude and relief from the Social workers, Community workers, and Nurses that has been so rewarding. These dedicated professionals are faced with the daily reminders of the need in our communities and the ‘Give a Kid a Blanket’ meets the need instantly.
There is no red tape to overcome and no paperwork to complete to prove that the family in their care is in need. Some Social workers are brought to tears when they arrive to collect their package. They feel that they are able to make a difference in the lives of the families they are taking care of.
I would like to thank each and every person who has taken the time to empty their linen cupboards or go shopping for items that have been donated. You are all legends in my book!
This community project will continue to collect and distribute until the end of July. Please keep those donations coming in – your small act of kindness could be a lifeline to somebody this winter.
